I have been court mandated to wear a SCRAM bracelet. A SCRAM bracelet is an alcohol monitoring device that is strapped around your ankle and records your consumption. Before my "incident" I had never heard of something like that, sounded a little hi-tech to me. It's an interesting device if you think about it, unless you're the one wearing it. The monitor takes its readings from your sweat. No, I am not sweating like a pig, but the anklet is pressed up against your skin at all times, and that allows the monitor to take an effective reading. Here is the best part of the whole gig, it vibrates. The vibration occurs every thirty minutes, you can feel it, and other people can hear it, quite embarrassing. If I'm in a quiet room, like class or AA meetings, I'll grab my phone as if that's where the noise is coming from.
Don't worry, it gets worse! If having this gigantic, sweaty, vibrating device on your ankle isn't irritating enough, you have a set of rules to go with it. The monitor can pick up traces of any kind of alcohol, that includes the alcohol used in every day products. Who knew alcohol was included in your daily personal hygiene routine? Not me! I never thought about it, I didn't need too. My, how things have changed! You cannot consume any alcohol whatsoever and that includes the alcohol in the following: Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, soap, lotion, perfume, hair gel, hair spray, deodorant, toothpaste, mouthwash, medicinal alcohol, face wash, make-up removers, face masks, hand sanitizer, disinfectants, and house hold cleaning items. I'm sure I've forgot some, but that is all I can remember at the moment. I'll be glad to add more as they come to mind.
As soon as I heard that, I went home and made an inventory of all the products that did not contain alcohol. I literally broke down into tears as I began to read the ingredients. I've acquired a broad selection of hair/face products over the years and ALL of them contained some kind of alcohol. EVERYTHING I used had some trace of alcohol, even my deodorant! After a panic attack (not a real one, but might as well have been) I called my SCRAM officer and asked for suggestions on alcohol free products. To my surprise, he was just as clueless as I was. Oh gee, thanks! I'm positive I am not the only person who has asked that question, how the hell doesn't he know?
So, I did some research, found a few answers, but still could not find the right products. The Fresh Market has a lot of all natural products and I was able to pick up alcohol free deodorant, soap, shampoo, and conditioner . The shampoo worked fine, but the conditioner made my hair dry and tangled. The deodorant was gel based and stained a lot of my clothing( the gel takes forever to dry). The soap seemed to make my body sticky. I almost felt like I wasn't clean. I was not impressed with these products, but I had to use them, because one alarm on my bracelet and back to jail I go!
After a few weeks of getting to know my SCRAM officer, I was able to "feel" him out. I explained my frustration with these "alcohol free" products and asked if there was an alternative. I was able to convince him that I would inform him of the product I was using and the next day we would see if any alcohol was detected. My first experiment was with conditioner. He said as long as I wash it out quickly it should not pick up a detection. I took a shower with my usual conditioner and washed it out almost immediately, and called the next day to find no traces of alcohol! As days went by, I let the conditioner sit in my hair longer, and it still has not affected my SCRAM bracelet. I did the same experiment with soap, deodorant, perfume, hair gel, hair spray, and toothpaste. I have not had any alerts, thank god!
I have been blessed to have had a wonderful SCRAM officer. Some people would have just told me to use alcohol free products despite the outcome. Before any of my "experiment's" I give him a call, and he usually gives me the go ahead. I'm so thankful I can use a majority of my usual products without ay repercussions. This whole "alcohol free" thing has been irritating, but I've been able to get away with a few things. I just wish I would have had someone to inform me of products I could/couldn't use. It would have saved me an abundance of time, money, and frustration. Maybe now someone will see this and I can be of service to them! This SCRAM bracelet is horrible, but it could always be worse, right?
Sincerely,
Allison

I just had to get scram on and I was worried about my toothpaste. I guess as long as I call it will be okay, but then they also mentioned household cleaners! I'm a clean freak...what kind of cleaners are able to be used?
ReplyDeleteIn all honesty, I have used and done the following, in which nothing has ever " gone off, alerted " ...etc etc.... Nyquil, no problem ever, NA beer ( about three in an hour or hour and a half, took baths AND submerged it for several minutes etc... ( nothing ever blinked, went off etc.). I wouldn't suggest being a thrillseeker and drinking an alcoholic beverage or sticking Fido's rawhide between it and your skin though... ? What's it worth ya know ? Get through it and move on... You'll probably learn and be thankful in the end, that it took the place of jail.
DeleteI didn't realize Kombucha has traces of alcohol in it. I'm on the SCRAM and was drinking one and someone pointed it out to me. Now I'm freaking out!! Is this going to show up :(
DeleteHi I'm Dan I had the SCRAM on . They found me guilty of drinking for 108 hours which can't be done ! I have a suit against AMS , PRONTOTRACK , PROBATION & the COUNTY it happened in . I'm looking for a Lawyer to help me with this case ? I had a Hair follicle test done that proves I didn't do it ! I was wrongfully incarcerated for another 107 days & nobody want to hear that the SCRAM gives FALSE POSITIVES If any body can HELP you can reach me at cavie41@yahoo.com THANKS
Deleteyou need to look up Judge powers in Novi Michigan. he wrote a paper on how the SCRAM tether does not work and shouldn't be used. He did this alongside another judge. I would contact the biggest lawyer with the biggest balls in your community and sue the shit out of everyone if what you say is true

Hello,
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the SCRAM life! I use crest toothpaste as long as it doesn't have "scope". Scope contains alcohol. I'll do a post about your other questions this week! Thanks for the inspiration!
Allison
This is some really helpful information, thank you very much Allison! Our POS legal system basically told me to shut up and figure it out lol. Oh well, they keep treating this many people this poorly then they'll get their's eventually
ReplyDeleteHi, Just wondering what your experience was like as far as the use of any lotions...
ReplyDeleteI love my bath and body lotions... and hate not to use them for the next two to three months
I have been on scram for 6 weeks now and Sunday night I was called at work from scram saying I had a alert of alcohol reading Thursday from 9:00pm to 8:00 am that's was while I was sleeping! I put lotion on my feet for really dry feet I ran out of cocoa butter and used some other lotion not thinking about it! But it must have set off the bracelet , now I'm really worried about the outcome! Any suggestions ?
DeleteHi allison, I really need help ! Ive had a problem with underage drinking tickets I recently got put on probation 18 months... again. It was from missing court and getting a warrant so I did 8 days in dupage county jail. Before they let me out of jail they put the infamous lovely SCRAM bracelet on me and I figured since I was court ordered to go to rehab I checked myself into one but while I was there I couldn't get a hold of my probation officer then I found out I had a warrant so I left rehab to go quash the warrant and now it's a huge misunderstanding and I don't know what to do :( basically I , jjst want to know if they'll resentence me for longer SCRAM BRACELET or if it will get taken off the 130 day mark.. please try to get back to me asap :)
DeleteBtw i've already had this scram bracelet on for about 110 days
I wear a scram and I used regular irish spring soap ,, hand sanitizer,,,, and listerine mouthwash and have never had a problem kin THREE years
Deletehas anyone heard of silicon gel being able to absorb your sweat and therefore not detect any alcohol? I am really curious as i have never been in this arena before.
ReplyDeleteI suggest you read the following link, http://michigancriminalattorney.com/scram-tether-works/ . Probation people don't strike me as particularly knowledgeable or helpful. I just found out O'Keefe's working hands crème has a small amount of alcohol in it. I am curious as to how the reports are interpreted locally here, as there are many things that can trigger these devices.
ReplyDeleteI just got scram two days ago and like you have been reading every label. I was told by the installer that if I could use mouthwash, just couldn't swallow it. I asked about hand sanitizer and he stated that I should be fine. I'm under the impression that it only reads large traces of alcohol ot that its not as sensitive as they make it seem.
ReplyDeleteIn my experience, having had an ankle monitor for almost one year now, I will tell you....do not use mouthwash unless it states "Alcohol-Free" (which there are many that do)........Do not use hand sanitizer, as I have personally had a small reading from it, it's pure alcohol..........a couple of things it has been very sensitive to: Dishwasher detergent (the POD style kind) and Hairspray....not just 'large traces', trust me.
DeleteI told the scram officer I was not going to go spend a bunch of money on non-alcoholic personal hygiene products. Almost every product I use has some kind of alcohol in it. She said "for the record I warned you." No problems, I said knock on my door anytime day or night with a breathylizer, a syringe to take blood with, a cup to pee in, or all 3, I guarantee you all of them will be 0.0!
DeleteI'm on the scram bracelet and i haven't changed any of my products. Im mostly positive they make you use nothing with alcohol because people will drink then blame it on the product that has barely any alcohol in it. If it did affect you then they wouldnt allow children to use any of those products.
ReplyDeletedid you have nyquil while on scram? will it detect it?
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteI and the majority of the people on here are not children so I don't understand your point
Deletethank you for bringing to attention some of the things to watch out for. I am about to get a SCRAM put on and didn't even consider cleaning products! UGH!
ReplyDeletei just got a scram bracelet about a week ago. one of the things i am worried about is gasoline since it contains ethanol.... I'm afraid to take my boat out or mow my lawn because of exhaust/ fumes...... has any one tried doing any of these things with a scram bracelet?....... this may sound silly but i am super paranoid as another mistake will result in extended jail time for me
ReplyDeleteCan "sleeping" with your spouse who has been drinking cause anything to go off with scram or read anything?

ReplyDeleteI am a local SCRAM provider. I put these bracelets on and monitor clients on a daily basis. In all honesty, the SCRAM bracelet is a Breathalyzer for your ankle. The body has to eliminate consumed alcohol by breath, urine and skin. Just like the Breathalyzer measures "Breath" alcohol concentration, the SCRAM bracelet measures "Transdermal" alcohol concentration. Approximately every 30 minutes while wearing the bracelet, It will perform a diagnostic test on itself to ensure it is working properly and pull in a small amount of insensible perspiration... which is literally the air from your perspiration. Then measures the ethanol alcohol concentration from this air. Just like your breath air. There are a strict set of standards the company uses to "confirm" a positive alcohol consumption event for a client. When you drink, the human body can only "absorb" so much alcohol at a time.... And .... can only "eliminate" so much at a time. Therefore, If there is a detection of alcohol from a "contaminate" which is possible, it would never meet the criteria to confirm a client drinking event because the contaminant will in no way have the same "absorption" and "elimination" rate as the human body. Therefore will never be confirmed by the company... although.... would be a violation of the client agreement with the provider to avoid alcohol based products. In my experience as a provider, USE COMMON SENSE and you will be fine. In other words, use hand lotion on chapped hands, NO problem. Load your hair down with alcohol based hairspray while wearing shorts at the same time the bracelet takes a reading. Well, you get the picture.
ReplyDeleteHope this helps you all.
I have a quick question I just got put on the bracelet and the monitor for the phone it keeps saying dialing and blinking red what is that?
DeleteEver so often (I think hourly) it dials out and sends the transmitted info from the bracelet to the company.
DeleteCan you drink bush na beer while on the scram braclet?
Deletewhat to do if my magnet has disappeared?
DeleteI am also wondering if you can drink 1-2 NA beers once in a while. Has anyone been busted for this?
DeleteHow long does a scram bracelet store information before it having to be uploaded?
DeleteDoes having one EtOH beer like O'Douls set off a positive reading? I just got the bracelet installed and the officer told me that I can still wear cologne and use alcoholic mouthwash just as long as I don't swallow it.
DeleteWhat advice or answers can you provide to my questions and what I was told?
Hi, I run a carpet cleaning co. I use truck mount equiment . Istand next to the exhaust from machine. blows stright down to the ground whare i have to stand,to work the switches. you can smell the fumes from engine am i safe,i always feel it on my leggs.
DeleteMy boyfriend was.spray painting his bike and I walked by.....also I used a conditioner with alcohol but rinsed it right away and washed it out.....what is the likely good that either one of these will give me a positive reading?
DeleteI have a question also....I know someone who is wearing a bracelet and been seen drinking---absolutely sure of it--no question whatsoever---but he maintains that he is not drinking and his reports will hold up in court....how is this possible.......he voluntarily put the bracelet on --- no monitored by any law. enforcement....
ReplyDeleteFirst question..... It is normal for the light on the base station to blink like that when it is dialing out on the phone line to communicate. It won't be able to communicate if someone is on the phone or the line is busy. The base station will continue to dial out to upload readings to the AMS Company until it is successful. Your local providing agent will let you know if there is a communication problem and will work with you to rectify any issues. Otherwise, don't let it bother you because it is working properly.
ReplyDelete2nd question.... First of all, you would have to know that the ankle bracelet this person is wearing is actually monitoring for alcohol. The SCRAM bracelets made by the AMS company can also be used only for House Arrest / Curfew monitoring and for Client GPS location monitoring.
ReplyDeleteIf monitoring for alcohol, I am certain the bracelet would be showing a positive TAC if this person is drinking enough to have at least a .02 alcohol concentration. The bracelet will not activate a positive alcohol alert until the alcohol concentration reaches this level. This person may be wearing the bracelet "pre-trial" as this is common that lawyers will have their clients wear the bracelet for a period before trial in order to show the judge they have been alcohol free for a period of time which usually produces a lighter sentence. Lawyers know that the client is going to be required to be on the bracelet anyway if found guilty. IF this is that persons situation, there is NO recourse for them if they do drink. The lawyer is the only one that will see the results and would choose just not to use the bracelet data for court and call their client STUPID.... they just wasted their money on monitoring if they were not going to comply with abstinence.
The Alcohol device I'm referring to is Soberlink, not a SCRAM ankle bracelet. Soberlink device is a poor monitoring device that has many flaws. The odds of getting violated is against anyone who is wearing one. My personal experience with a Soberlink device was a night mare and still is. I was violated. I'm innocent and have laboratory test to prove it. However, I still had to go through the pain of hiring a lawyer, court, thousands of dollars of expense and the judicial system from hell.
ReplyDeleteIf anyone is experience issues with a Soberlink device please contact me for help.
johnlomo1963@gmail.com
The person who is drinking on a SCRAM ankle bracelet found a way to beat the system.
ReplyDeleteThe Soberlink bracelets are inferior in my opinion. We looked at both before starting our company and SCRAM was our choice hands down. As far the person getting away with drinking on the SCRAM bracelet, they must have had communication problems that lasted more than a few days. The SCRAM bracelet will hold about 2000 readings before it gets full. I personally do not know of any way they could defeat it without it being recognized that the bracelet had been tampered with. I would like to know the details about how this person was able to do that. In my opinion, It could have been an agent that has so many clients they just chose not to turn the person in to probation or the court because it was too much trouble. I don't know of any agents that would do that. The AMS Company carries extremely high integrity and are prompt in notifying agents of any violations. It is up to the integrity of the agent him or her self to follow through as they have been trained to do with honor and integrity. No one really benefits if not.
ReplyDeleteSo as long as it doesnt say alcohol in the ingredients there shouldnt be a problem? Alot of ingredients have alot of nice long names that I dont know what they are.
ReplyDeleteDo you have any statics on the SOBERLINK ALCOHOL device to show any issues with it. I used a Soberlink Alcohol device and it was a nightmare. I'm currently on the SCRAM bracelet and it is working like a charm, no issues.
ReplyDeleteYes. What issues are you having?
DeleteAllison what part of Florida do you live?
ReplyDeleteI know of a story that was told to me by a SCRAM dealer. There was a client on a SCRAM bracelet that worked at a beauty salon. The hair spray used there clogged the pump motor in the bracelet and it could not collect samples. True story.
ReplyDeleteJohnny B-Good's insight:
ReplyDeleteSOBERLINK - My personal experience with: A Mobile Alcohol Breathalyzer that is classified as a class 1 medical device In California. A class 1 medical device is in the same category as a bed pan you piss in. Class 1 medical device needs no human clinical trials, no scientific data, and no certification and is exempt from the FDA regulatory process. This Breathalyzer is NOT FDA approved, does NOT have 510K certification, and is NOT DOT approved and yet it is used in court, probation, by law officials, with family members and rehabs to determine ones breathe alcohol content. This device reported false positives, erroneous information, failed to send test, failed to perform as manufacturer claimed etc. Soberlink is NOT admissible in a court of law. If you have been arrested or violated probation due to a Soberlink alcohol breathalyzer email me for advice and documentation to fight your case. Johnlomo1963@gmail.com
Check the lotion for any alcohol content.
ReplyDeleteYes it has alcohol in it, I wasn't sure it would show up! But I guess it did! I only used it once by mistaking it with my other lotion !
DeleteJames,
DeleteWhat are the readings? You can fight this, if the readings are from lotion? Is the SCRAM bracelet court ordered? Or for pre-trial by your own will?
Is the SCRAM bracelet court ordered? Or for pre-trial by your own will?
ReplyDeleteHas anyone experienced problems with their base unit? It is getting readings but not uploading into system properly... I have to travel over an hour just to get to office where scram device was installed..."come back we will replace base unit" .....this is a big problem....how can this be fixed? Why can't they test it in office before I leave?
ReplyDeleteAllison, what was your "incident" to be put on 2 monitoring devices? Im on the scram until the 25th, I drink odouls to get me by, no triggers at all!
ReplyDeleteok, so how can you cheat the SCAM device??? Anyone had any luck? I was thinking maybe using a piece of pigs skin in between??? I'm no alcoholic, of course an alcoholic would say that, lol! but I do like to see ways that I can beat the system. Who has beaten this SCRAM bracelet??
ReplyDeleteAre you wearing a SCRAM bracelet? Do you work for the SCRAM company? Are you a probation officer? Are you in law enforcement in any way?
DeleteI have been wearing a SCRAM bracelet for the last 4 months, what a pain...have to be careful with what products I use, how I bath, what I'm close to. After spending the first 3 months complaining about these things I came to realize that really I was complaining about "not being able to DRINK"....which is the reason I am wearing this thing to begin with. At first I was so pissed off and embarrassed, google all kinds of websites to find a way to defeat it, even thought about rubbing lotion all over my ankle so that I could claim the lotion set it off, instead of the alcohol I planned to drink. Then all of a sudden...POP...the thought occurred to me, what if they don't buy my story about the lotion...what if I had to go back to jail...what if I couldn't see my family, friends, neighborhood, watch TV, listen to the radio, just enjoy life. POP....the enemy was not the SCRAM, POP...the REAL enemy was the ALCOHOL!!!! Since I came to that realization, the little discomfort of wearing it is worth 1000X's more with what I have instead of sitting in a PRISON CELL. WOW... the last month has really been a blessing, if it wasn't for the SCRAM I'd be in jail instead of "house arrest"....really, is there anything to complain about "house arrest" when you consider the alternative. ALCOHOL is the evil...I'm turning my life around and staying away from evil, since that evil is the reason I am wearing this thing anyway.
ReplyDeleteOk soooo have had the SCRAM FOR 2 DAYS and have been paranoid about everything. I am a dancer and im afraid my job will cause a false tampering. Also. I was so afraid of this i thought to mark it with a marker. IMMEDIATELY AFTER THIS I REALIZED OH SHIT MARKERS HAVE ALCOHOL. I WIPED OFF THR MARKER IN LESS THEN A MINUTE. WILL THIS CAUSE A FALSE POSITIVE??!?!?!?!?! Help
ReplyDeleteNo, the marker should not be a problem. Do NOT drink and you'll be fine. What type of dancing do you do?
DeleteCan you really have na beer?
ReplyDeleteAny alcohol can produce a positive reading. Don't take the chance. Most people are on the SCRAM for probation reasons. Look at it this way, if you drink your going to jail... this should be enough motivation for you to NOT drink. Stay sober!!!
DeleteMy son accidently grabbed his friends drink(vodka& pop) instead of his pop, it was a honest mistake, he didn't swallow it, spit it out right away and rinsed his mouth out really good,he feels horrible and is worried, can this set his scram moniter off?
ReplyDeleteNo, it will not cause an alert. If he had even swallowed it, probably not. I'm not trying to get anyone to drink while on SCRAM. It's STUPID to risk your freedom for a drink. I'm simply stating, not to freak because you shook hands with someone who was drinking. These devices suck, and in truth, probably unconstitutional, but who wants to spend really big bucks proving it. Maybe a large class action suit would do it. This company grosses about $67 Million per Month or close to $1BILLION a year. Anyone know a very ambitious atty? We can probably settle out of court.
DeleteMy boyfriend has a scram. He got it on a week ago. I'm too afraid to use lotion and body wash or even shampoo/conditioner because I'm afraid it will make his scram go off!!
ReplyDeleteAm I okay to use my products without it effecting his scram?? Help!!
My bracelet it a bi home base. It's not scram. It does not vibrate. There is just a little round about the size of a nickel dang that goes under my skin spring so I can move the little suction thing from my angle on to the bracelet and slip something in between and I was told that if you put saran wrap on your leg and then you get a cotton ball and you mix oil and water together and put it up against the round thing that supposed to detect alcohol it will not detect alcohol it will still the text there is moisture and that's why there is the oil and water mixture so you can drink on it but you have to be careful that it does not touch your skin at all and use duct tape to hold the cotton ball onto the round thing and push it up against the bracelet and you'll be fine
ReplyDeleteSorry I am talking into my phone but its not registering the correct words plus I'm a little bit drunk lol
ReplyDeleteSorry I am talking into my phone but its not registering the correct words plus I'm a little bit drunk lol
ReplyDeleteWhy does the base unit keep telling me check phone line. I've done everything possible and even bought three phones!!
ReplyDeleteHave you tried possibly connecting it to wifi modem instead of the phone line?
DeleteDoes anyone have the name of products they used that were ok? I was given a 15 day sentence and I don't want to chance it.
ReplyDeleteI have recently been ordered to wear a SCRAM bracelet, and it has been a little bit of a struggle. I have travelled back home for the Christmas holidays and so I had to travel with the base unit so I can check in. My check in times are 10 AM and PM, and my supervisor told me that I should try to be in the room 15 minutes before and after, but sometimes I get into the room at 10 on the dot. I have read online that when the base unit and bracelet connect that either the base monitor will light up or the bracelet will light up but neither of mine do. My base does always say monitoring on it though. Should I be concerned about any of this?
ReplyDeleteAlso I recently went out to dinner for my grandfather's birthday and they brought out a baked Alaska. They poured liquor on it so that they could set it on fire and whatnot. The waitress handed me a slice and I ate about half of it before freaking out and realizing that they poured alcohol on it. Should I be worried? Would really appreciate some responses.
I'm currently wearing a scram monitor and was worried about my deodorant giving a reading. It says it has steryl alcohol in it. Should I be concerned
ReplyDeleteNo.. I use Arm&Hammer and it has alcohol in it.Then called to see if it set it off and they told me no.I use it all the time with no problems. Also have used the alcohol wipes in stores to clean the cart handles and still no problems
DeleteWill drinking nyquil cause a fail on scram? I really F'd up drinking some I've been on scram for a while and just was really sick. Seriously I did not drink anything.
ReplyDeleteDid you ever find out about the NyQuil? I accidentally took a 30ml dose last night not thinking about the scram. I'm really sick
DeleteOk I drank half of a half pint can I remove the data before I download..? I'm thinking a magnetron from a microwave directly to it for a min.... What's up science peeps? Can't go back to jail I messed up and won't again but need 1 more chance.
ReplyDeleteRecently was put on Scram. I am ok with no drinking infact its a good idea for me. However I am concerned about a few things. 1. I work in a restaurant that serves alcohol and or sanitize solution to clean the tables has alcohol in it as well. Will I be ok to clean tables and server drinks as longs as I don't spill large amounts of alcohol on my skin? I am really worried because I really need this job. Does it read differently if I get it on my skin versus drinking it? Will it be understood if I get a small reading of trace amounts from spilled alchol from a glass? Can I just wash it off quickly? Does it show it right when it happens? How does this work????
ReplyDeleteI am a waitress, and at end of shift, I have to mop the entiiiiire restaurant. And I'd like to know about cleaning products as well =/

DeleteDoes any one know if i can get my nails done on scram
ReplyDeleteI'm on the basic scram monitor, not the super neat wifi one they have now. HOWEVER, my monitoring agent did not install a home base station, I'm only supposed to go in to their office weekly for downloads. Is this even legal? It sounds like they are not following procedure.
ReplyDeleteYes it is legal, I had one on for two years and hated the look so I made a cover for it. Simple and cheep, but a fashion statement. Go to GPS-Scram coozie on Facebook.

DeleteHello fello scram users. I have been on scram for one month. When I went to get the scram bracelet on me I took a list of products I used at home and at work. Their safe answer was no products with alcohol and use gloves with home or work products. I work in the medical field and constantly having to glove up to sanitize the exam rooms, immunize patients and deoderize rooms when needed. At home I didn't change my hygenie products except my lotion to be honest. I purchased Aveenos fragrance free baby lotion. I shave my legs with sensitive skin shaving cream, I continued to use any off the self shampoo and conditioner from Walmart or Target, I use Dove deep moisturizer body wash, Clean & Clear face wash and I use Mary Kay facial products for my face. I wear gloves when washing the dishing and cleaning the house. I called a week into being on the scram bracelet and they said everything was fine. When it comes to food it is tricky because we have to avoid sauces due to some ingredients but so far eating out has been OK especially fast food places. For now I am avoiding nice restaurants it could get tricky their.
ReplyDeleteIf you would like to have a cover for your bracelet go to GPS-Scram cozzie on Facebook. It will protect your scram from spills.
DeleteMy husband had 6 days of the braclet he didn't consume alcohol at all but the agent just called and said the bracelet detected alcohol on the 2nd night threw the next day what could have caused this and what do we do now we paid a lot of money to have this and he didn't consume alcohol!,
ReplyDeleteIf you need to protect your Scram and need a cover for it go to GPS-Scram cozzie."" on facebook. I make new covers everyday.
ReplyDeleteDo you still make these?

ReplyDeleteNeed help!!! so got my scram put on not realizing how all this all worked i got ready at 10am and my appt was at 2pm i had on lotion hairspray ect will i be ok?? Also everything including my babies shampoo and wipesnhave alcohol do i wear gloves how do i get ready and look and smell nice. Plus this is my first dui is this typical to get scram , ihd, 12mo probation 9 mo classes and community services???!?!?!??!
ReplyDeleteI hate this thing. I've had it on for 5 months and it is a constant bother. Do ANYTHING you can to avoid have to wear it. Somehow I was sentenced to wear it for the term of probation (current order 3 years) that just seems too long. I don't know how long i can deal with it, I feel like cutting it off and dealing with the consequences just too get a little relief.
ReplyDeleteIf anyone can help please email me at lmerca00@gmail.com
I've been on these things a couple times now and hate them as well.you've probably figured this out by now but rotating the bracelet from the inside to the out every few days is the best relief you'll find. It can be hard if they're too tight but if you slowly work it you should be able to rotate it around your leg.
Deleteany updates? are you still on it?

ReplyDeleteWill it detect anything if i use noxzema and face wash that have alcohol in it?
ReplyDeleteMy base station is flashing red saying "wake bracelet with magnet." WTF? I didn't drink anything or go anywhere (I'm also on house arrest). They never gave me a magnet, and fridge magnets don't do anything. Its also 4th of July weekend. Nobody will be at the scram office till tomorrow. Anybody know what this means? Is my bracelet even working? Could I theoretically drink or go to my family bbq?
ReplyDeleteI just had the scram bracelet put on last Friday, and I was working on my brothers motorcycle. Some gas got on my hands, I didn even think about it until my dad told me gas has alcohol in it, am I screwed? I'm facing 4 years if I mess up
ReplyDeleteMy daughter is going to get a scram bracelet put on in about a week due to a dui. She works as a bartender and is concerned that alcohol spilled on her hands and fingers all day will be setting the device off. Her probation officer told her it shouldn't as long as she doesn't drink any alcohol. She has to work as part of her probation. She hasn't been able to speak directly to a scram officer yet as she is serving her mandatory jail time. Any suggestions? The cost of this device is $400/ month and she needs it for 90 days. From what I've read it sounds like its just going to buy her more jail time even though she's doing what she's told.
ReplyDeleteHello. I have to have one put on tomorrow and I'm worried. I have consumed alcohol and its will be 36 hours since I have had any. I am going to not drunk whatsoever and I wanted to know if it will detect what I drank over the weekend can anyone please help me out with this question. I don't want to cheat or do anything to it. I just want to make sure that my weekend activities won't show up when I go in tomorrow for it
ReplyDeleteI have had mine on for a week now. Non of my daily bath or beauty products effect the bracelet . I was told to stay away from hairspray, mouth wash and hand sanitizes . My issue with it is why is it so big? we live in a day of technology that can create micro chips for tracking so why would you make a device that is huge , un bending and extremely uncomfortable unless the purpose is to make us all feel like we are living in Mid evil times with fucking shackles on .
ReplyDeleteThat's the idea sweetheart. No ones getting anything by you...

I have had my SCRAM bracelet on since Dec. 6, 2016. It IS uncomfortable and does feel like shackles...At first I did the same thing as Allison and took an inventory of every product I used on a daily basis. Was told I should use NOTHING that contained alcohol of ANY kind. I called a few manufacturers and specifically asked them about their ingredients and was completely honest about my concerns. Some,in particular, were Aveeno, Eucerin, Neutrogena to name a few. All three told me that their "alcohol" ingredients (cetyl, cetearyl and stearyl) are all plant derived and should not give a false positive. They even went as far as to say to stay away from SD Alcohol, Stearyl Dirivited Alcohol products. I put my hands in the air and went back to using the same products taking great care not to allow them to touch the device at any time. Even hair spray with the very first ingredient named is alcohol. No alerts at all. I have not had a drop of alcohol in my system.
ReplyDeleteI have a part time job giving wine tastings, vodka, liquor tastings at events...this is how I supplement my income. My company allows us to "taste" all our products so that we may sell more of them at these tastings. I have refrained from doing so out of paranoia! I just study up on the flavors and pretend I've tasted them to my consumers. It has worked so far.
Then, last Tuesday I received a call from a deputy of the court who said that my monitor showed activity starting at 4:30p.m. on Sunday till 10a.m. on Monday of alcohol consumption!! I was not drinking, I did not try any new beauty products, I did not get my hair done at a salon, I did not get my nails done, no one inadvertently sprayed perfume on me. Nothing. I was told over the phone to be very careful...make sure nothing was touching the monitor (this would mean tampering) which, to my understanding of this phone call, was not the reason for the call. The next evening (Wednesday) I went to bed at the usual time and got up at 2:17a.m. to go to the bathroom when I noticed my monitor base station blinking and I assumed it was taking it's 2a.m. scheduled reading...I noticed my bracelet lit up...never saw this before. Checked the monitor and it was saying to "use the magnet to re-activate the bracelet"! I freaked out! The county I was arrested in is 45 minutes away but I just so happened to have a Dr.'s appt. that day in the same county so I stopped in to my Alternative Sentencing office (I'm not even convicted and am not on probation but was ordered to wear this monstrosity anyway) and brought my docking station with me. They read the station and said there was no indication of this strange instruction in the middle of the night. They decided the docking station must need a software update. Done. Then they could not get a reading from my direct bracelet and decided that I needed a new one and it was replaced. After reviewing my readings right in front of me...there was no alert for alcohol and no alert for the strange "magnet" instruction. WTF? I really wonder how reliable these devices are...part of me wants to try a non-alcoholic beer or wine to see if it will even register but I'm too afraid of the consequences if it does. My Public Defender thinks that with no "hiccups" I can have this bracelet removed in another 30 days! Wouldn't you consider these "hiccups"? But if the ASU doesn't see them how can they be seen in the court? I'm very concerned about what is lying ahead of me with this.
any updates?

ReplyDeleteJust wanted to let everyone know on the site that a new class action federal lawsuit is starting here in New York and this federal class action lawsuit will extend to every state of the United States of America. This class action will extend to the entire United States and I need a Plaintiff from every state. This federal lawsuit will be brought under the federal Multi District Litigation Act, and will get under way very soon. What I need is you to email or call with your name, what happened to you, and what SCRAM and AMS did. If you want to be apart of this, lets get things going quickly. This case will be different from the federal class action that is pending in Los Angeles. That case has only two Class Plaintiffs and is not enough to rise to a nationwide class the way it stands. I am working with a new set of attorneys and we are taking it to the next biggest level. Please send an email or call me at : Anthony.oliver29@rocketmail.com: And you can call me at (818) 624-2504. Lets bring justice to all of those who deserve it. Thank you. - Anthony Oliver
ReplyDeleteAnthony, a quick google on you indicates you have quite the history with DUI related arrests in at least two states. Perhaps you have a true drinking problem and should stop filing lawsuits and try getting better?

ReplyDeleteI've been on a scram device before and hated it, luckily it was only a month or so. But I messed up afterwards and now I'm back on it till probation is over. It's been two months now with no issues using my everyday products and even tho I want to drink I know it's not worth the jail time as I've been guaranteed atleast 6 months jail if I mess this up, so I've been sober. Cooler weather crept up on me and I'm working on my motorcycle, cleaning up the rims and brakes sitting Indian style on the floor, finished cleaning it up after two nights. Then it hits me that I've just been spraying brake cleaner all around my ankles. checked in today with my officer and specifically asked him to check on it because of this and sure enough 11 detections in the time frame. I sure hope they can tell it apart from me actually drinking.
ReplyDeleteI just had the scram put on and I end up using Secret deodorant and it shows steady alcohol
ReplyDeleteNo this will not affect it as long as you are not applying it anywhere near the device - only using it for your underarms.
DeleteI have used skincare products with cetearyl alcohol, etc on my face and hair throughout having it on the past 8 months with no issue. What I am careful about is in the shower when i rinse off, I always put the leg with the bracelet up on the side of tub to ensure that none of those products wash over the bracelet while in the shower as I rinse.
There is another website where the blogger claims all sort of things set hers off, but now that I've had mine on, I'm pretty sure she was lying quite heavily and created her blog to cover her ass (all posts were made in one day. She created a lot of undue fear for me when I first got mine. (the website is something like anklemonitors.blogspot.com) SHe either lies or is a complete idiot.
Will it show up when they do the reading Secret deodorant and it showed stearyl alcohol in it
ReplyDeleteGiving up alcohol judgement with its develop emotional connection is painful for the change leaves a hole in a persons history of development of enjoyment for them self. Making a hole in your past from not drinking is a challenge and full of regrets but being in the now and creating your spirit being projected to others that comes back to you in the most positive way through interaction is worth it to others and your self.
ReplyDeleteHi, my boyfriend has a Scram and tonight I accidentally cooked with a scoop of beer mustard in a sauce I simmered green beans in. He hardly ate any sauce and he beer mustard doesn’t say anything about it actually containing alcohol on the container! Help did I fuck him up?

ReplyDeleteAfter reading your blog i got to know that alcohol monitor device is a reliable monitoring system.
ReplyDeleteI have had the monitor on for a month use all my regular products. At work we have to spray pure alcohol in the room after each client. I got a call from them asking what days I work. They can tell difference if its ingested or environmental. Thanks to the Scram I get to be home with my toddler. The people here trying to get around it and saying anything can set it of need to reevaluate their life. Its because of people like you that the courts treat everyone like they are liers even when they are telling the truth.
ReplyDeleteIf you just got your Scram put on notify them anytime you are around alcohol dont consume any and you will be fine.
